Reflections: BFA Thesis

Lesley University Senior Thesis Exhibition: May 2023

My overall goal for my senior thesis work was to explore and re-experience my childhood memories with my father. Birth to thirteen years old was filled with laughter, tears, consistencies, and inconsistencies. I wanted to reflect on my fondest memories with my father and honor him as well as my memories and experiences with him that have made me what I am today. As a single dad who was a disabled veteran without a career, he did whatever he could to provide for me throughout my childhood. This included gardening, building rock walls, house painting and yard work. Growing up with my dad the importance of pursuing a higher education was stressed. After his passing on July 8th, 2014, when I was 13 years old, it felt like such a huge role model in my life was missing. I struggled to regain the momentum and motivation to continue with my educational life but by my senior year, I decided to pursue my Bachelors in Fine Arts at Lesley University. I credit this decision to both of my parents, but especially my dad who always encouraged me to be creative and pushed me to be successful in life.
